Creative Profile: Allem Studio

Pillows from Allem Studio
How is your week treating you? I hope you have had a wonderful week so far. I am doing great except that I could really use more hours in the day as there are so many creative and wonderful people that I want to feature here. Today's find is Allem Studio, located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Allem Studio is a collaboration between two friends, Lovisa Shergill and Mitali Seth. In their own words, "Both of us met in NIFT, New Delhi (National Institute of Fashion Technology) India. We were room mates and became friends and slowly came to realize that our viewpoints and design sensibilities were similar. After college we worked in rival companies which specialized in sourcing products from India for various high profile retailers. ....After a few years, we both moved to North America with our spouses and one day while on the phone, we started talking about how cool it would be to work together...and that was it....we formed our company and initially started by sourcing embroideries for bridal designers like Badgley Mischka, Anne Barge, Vera Wang etc...and then steadily increased our client roster to include designers like Peter Som, Luca Luca, DVF, Ralph Lauren, Marchesa etc. It was exciting because In India, we specialized in sourcing products for mass market, while here we were a part of the chain that introduced new trends which then became mass market. As their company grew, they decided to start Allem Studio to introduce " unique, whimsical and colorful items which can also be treasured as classic pieces". Allem Studio designs gorgeous pillows, poufs and table linen. There is the hand screen printed Tuscany series which I think is my favorite...look at that gorgeous blue and white (it is available in other colors).

Though it is hard to decide which of their products I adore as opposed to merely love, i have to mention the Marrakech series and their Madhubani series. Inspired by an Arabic quote "The earth is a peacock -- Morocco is the tail of it" peacocks of many hues prance happily over the Marrakech pillows.

The Madhubani series is a modern take on the traditional art form of Madhubani painting and the whimsical art on the pillows is reminiscent of ginger bread houses from fairy tales.
